Job Posting: Public Works Laborer

Salary Range: $19.11 – $28.67 per hour

 

Position Summary

The Paxtang Borough is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Public Works Laborer. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled level work in the maintenance of trees and public landscapes; repair and maintenance of streets, sewers, and storm sewers; maintenance of public property; and, minor carpentry and construction tasks. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that works under the direction of the Assistant Borough Manager.

Baseball Equipment

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers needed for weeding of the Community Native Plant "Grunden Garden",  in the Paxtang Commons (between Park Terrace and City Line Diner) from May - September.  Contact Brian Rotolo, for more information.  

"Painting of the Fishes", an early summer Saturday morning (date to be announced) group activity, where volunteers gather to stencil fish next to the Stormwater drains to educate the community and create awareness of no dumping, this drain is for stormwater ONLY.  

Mulch spreading in the playgrounds.  Typically done in June. 

Substitute Crossing Guards

8:30 - 9:00 a.m. and/or  3:30 - 4:00 p.m. on school days from September - May (Central Dauphin School District).

Shade Tree Volunteer
Active primarily March - October
Assist the Shade Tree Commission in the maintenance and care of Paxtang's Urban Forest. Volunteers maintain a detailed inventory of all of the Borough's shade trees and do routine care and trimming to ensure the long term health and well-being of the trees and the safety of Borough residents. Participate in one of our scheduled work days.
